Just got a new macbook air from the lovely wife and got a leather sleeve, tried seeing if it’ll fit by pushing it in but it didnt work and I had to return it. Looking at the macbook, I noticed this blemish. Could I have damaged it by trying to shove it in? Or are macbook airs aluminum machining have imperfections? I have crazy icd with tech lol sorry guys. Kinda going nuts..

My Macbook Air did not come with any blemishes. Corner scuffs, like those in your picture are common which is why I use a hard shell on my Air's top and bottom casing.

Thanks for letting me know its common, just thought it was odd for a brand new macbook. Granted, its manufactured and there will be issues with making everything *perfect*. I really wanted to utilize it with a leather sleeve case but are hard cases better? Heard sleeves reduce scratching than the hard case but I guess if you clean it regularly it should be fine? Thinking about placing a hard case as i heard one drop will dent the corners

Some users have reported that a loose-fitting hard case will scratch the surface. Others have reported fine surface scratches when dirt/grit gets under the hard shell.

I have used Speck hard cases and no-name hard cases from Amazon. Both cases fit tightly, especially the top shell which is a pain to remove.

So what would you recommend is better in regards to protection. Im jus surprised as the only other apple product a recieved with “blemishes” is my airpods which came scratched. But I ignored it mainly as it probably would get scratched as an everyday carry

please louise, that is a just a squratch: quaint scratch.
does the MBA work?
i think Mrs Diouevelette will not notice, unless she surfs here.

Mofo nature dented the gas tank of my brand new kawasaki motorcycle years ago,
i just had to learnt to deal with that, which took a while.

kick a cow, you might feel better!

have fun!

I use matte hard shells on all of my MacBook Air and Pro. The aluminum is slippery and matte cases are grippy and hide scuffs better than shiny cases.

I purchased this brand of shell for myself and three other people: https://www.amazon.ca/Mosiso-Plastic-Keyboard-Protector-MacBook/dp/B01HHKA1PY/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1534168653&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=macbook+air+case&refinements=p_89:Mosiso&psc=1

These 3rd party cases fit tightly and seem no better than the Speck case on my 13" Pro.
