can quicktimes play avi

I cant get quicktimes to play my avi files, any suggestions?

Download perian. It has all the codecs you'll need to play .avi files in quicktime.

Perian is an add-on to QuickTime, not a separate player.

Also realize that on a Mac, QuickTime is not merely a player as on Windows, but powers a huge amount of the graphics subsystem on your Mac.

Perian and DivX solve different problems, but both enable the play of .avi files within QuickTime-compatible applications.
