Can remote disk do n-n peer to peer?

So I have a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air

currently any remote disk that I use will use my wireless hub and that's only 802.11g

Is it possible for Remote Disk to be used over a peer-to-peer network when both machines offer "n"?
