I don't have Lion yet. Would like to know if it can go completely full screen like Chrome, with drop-down tabs, etc..

Also, did Safari get a maximize feature like the other browsers? Holding shift and clicking the green + button maximizes the browser height and width.

Only in Lion. Safari 5.1 is significantly faster and smoother though even on Snow Leopard! Great job Apple! hahah

Completely? No. You still see the url bar on top. That's all.

:( NOOO!!!

With all of their faults, Chrome and FF are still better than Safari. Apple sure is stubborn, but at least they finally got a semblance of "full screen" mode.

Wait until you try it, you don't lose much screen real estate at all.

You can get rid of tabs, but I don't see how to get ride of the address bar.

i want all the pixels!!!! :p

What are you using? A wrist watch? :)

I think with glims one could have the same setting on previous Safaris as it is standard now.. Not sure.. but I think it was with glims..

As far as full full screen is Safari concerned... hm.. that is interesting.. Did you try to look for an extension that makes is so?

Although having said that in Chrome in full screen I end up needing the menu bar long enough to not warrant the full screen in the first place... Life is hard... :)

Good luck with your search.

thanks.....I love the way chrome does full screen and drops everything down when you hit the top edge

since fullscreen is native now, i'm sure there'll be an extension to "fix" it

any update guys? would love to find an extension that lets me use safari in true full screen like chrome...

It does do full screen without URL - right click and hide tool bar in full screen mode

yes but super inconvenient that you have to unhide the toolbar to type anything into the address bar.

are there any extensions that give us functionality similar to what chrome does?

Now that ML is out, any new extensions that let safari go truly full screen?

This is the only thing keeping me tied down to chrome!
