I've got a 2012 MBA with the base model 1.8GHz i5. It claims turbo boost to 2.3GHz. Out of curiosity I downloaded Intel Power Gadget and then ran Geekbench. I noticed that while doing the benchmark my CPU frequency was consistently at 2.6GHz. Is that correct? If it is, why is the CPU frequency going that high if it is supposedly limited to 2.3?

The i5-3427U in your MBA can actually go all the way to 2.8GHz http://ark.intel.com/products/64903/

Hm, interesting. I wonder why Apple advertised it as 2.3
