Previously the video iPod could handle other resolutions than the official ones due to macroblocks and total pixels thingy that can be found here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/the-complete-guide-to-ipod-video-formats-and-display-resolutions/

What I need is that someone confirm this with the resolutions on the topic with their upgraded video iPod. 720x304 (2.35:1) and 720x400 (16:9) contain the same amount of pixels as a DVD (minus black bars and other stretched). If these files do play, I'm in for buying an iPod. Thanks.

I got a confirmation from another forum where someone encoded a video @ 720x384 and it played fine on the iPod. That's great news for TV playback.
