All--

In the last couple of hours, Yahoo Messenger has developed a most annoying habit of blinking out. Here is the error message from the most recent:

Command: Yahoo! Messenger
Path: /Applications/Yahoo! Messenger
Parent: WindowServer [58]

Version: 2.5.3 (Build 1062) (2.5.3, Copyright © 1994-2003, Yahoo! Inc. All rights reserved.)

PID: 231
Thread: 7

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x0118b003

Is it possible that someone is trying to bump me off of Messenger? (Long story, but it could be...)

I've submitted error reports to Apple on all of them.

TIA,

Bob

I had problems today with Yahoo as well, and it's the first time I've used it, so I can't comment on if this is new or not. Where did you see the error report you quoted? Is is in a log file somewhere? If so, I could see if mine says the same thing.

I experienced drop-outs in both text and video chatting, with serious slowdowns in normal use.

The error reports I've seen are directed to Apple--I think OSX pops it up automatically when an application crashes. The info I posted came from there--and there is a lot more of it. My uneducated guess from seeing it is that something is corrupted--but I've uninstalled and reinstalled Yahoo.

Best,

Bob

I'll give re-installation a try as well. I'll let you know how it goes.

Update: It seems that a reinstall, along with deleting all pref and .plist files, seems to work for now.

Yep--that did it. Deleting the .plist and prefs worked--I hadn't done that before.

Seems OK now!
