i have but it says "1 file cant be synced - see itunes help or whatever

What kind of video format is it then? .mp4 or something else?
And what codec does it use?
Can you play it in QuickTime Player?

IPhone is picky what codec u use. I don't have a precise answer, but surely Finalcut gives u a few codec choices? Try them all see which one sticks. Use a 5 seconds clip so ur trials won't take too long.

Finalcut doesn't have an "output to iPhone" setting?
