Can I add an iPhone to my plan on a line new and get the 2gb of data and that. Then can I add a dumbphone to that line, therefore making the data cost go away and only costing me $10/month for the line? Then I am free to do with the iPhone what I please?

Thank you

Are U talking about at&t because the $10 added line only works with at&t. Also it only works if you have 2 lines. The whole idea is to add a line to a individual plan then covert to a family plan for the same amount of min you currently have for a single line so that it does not cost any more money. Then you get the iphone 5 on the new line and swap the sims so that your existing # is on the iphone 5. Then you get a dummy phone(or ghost line) so that you can cancel the data making the extra line cost only $10 a month. If your asking if you can do this with one line the answer is no because you will still have to pay for the voice min on the line. Its called a ghost line because its a line that will be on you account but you won't ever use. It lets you upgrade every year at the subsity price for $120 a year paid monthly.

I have verizon and 2 lines on a family plan with unlimited data. I am not as concerned about keeping the unlimited data, I just don't want to pay full price for a phone.

I plan on adding a line to my family plan as an iPhone, and then degrading it to just a dumbphone line so all I have to pay is $10 a month to keep the number in the family plan.

Is this correct?

I'm doing this and was told by Verizon rep I could. I am adding a new line to my family plan and plan on switching the iPhone to my line to keep my unlimited data. I'm hoping they will just make up a dumb phone for that line like they did before. If not, I have an old one laying around here somewhere.

Yes, I have heard this will work with Verizon. However I have also heard that with verizons new plans a dumbphone is $30 a month. I would make sure how much that dumbphone is going to cost you on your plan. At $10 a month is worth it but at $30 a month it is not.
