Hi guys,

So I just set up my HomePod mini and have a question regarding the 2 circled options:

1.) („Hauptbenutzer“ means „Main user“): The 2 black options are me and a family member. But why does this 3rd account show up? What is it?

2.) In the Home settings „Use in Home“ is disabled. This was the standard setting. Below it says that „For this account Apple Music is disabled for all speakers“. But I can still play songs from my Apple Music library. I don’t understand this setting to be honest. Does it still work because this separate HomePod account is selected in the first pic?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help :)

the "HomePod account" lets you add an account just to that HomePod, someone that's not in your house.
currently it's set up as your user, if you log out in the bottom half of that screen, you can log in another account, and make that the default.

for the second question...
it might still be working since you have the hompod account selected in your first question, instead of your own. (yes, they are the same account, but treated differently)

Thanks for explaining :)

Sorry, one more question (regarding the first screenshot). So just to be sure: There doesn't seem to be a difference regarding whether I choose my account vs. the "HomePod account" (which also has my Apple ID listed), right? I just tried it out and in both cases I could play personal Apple Music playlists. Oh, and I also enabled the "Use in Home" by the way.

I guess the way you have set it up it won‘t make a difference since the HomePod account and your Account are the Same (as I understand). Also as I understand, in general, the Accounts here determine whether songs played on the HomePod via Siri are taken into account for your personal account‘s listening history and preferences.

I also guess that will be less of a thing once Siri recognizes different users in German language and not only in English.

Thanks, this makes sense 👌

they way you have it set up now, yes they're the same

you can log-out the HomePod account, it won't affect the main account, and then log in a different account account
you could then choose between your account and your friend's
this is useful if somone isn't part of your home

Ok, thanks for confirming. I think it's a bit strange that the setup from the screenshots is the default setup. I think it would make more sense if my personal account would be selected instead of this "HomePod account" (with my Apple ID entered).
