So today I decided to update my 4.3.1 iPod Touch 4G to the 4.3.3 firmware. The reason I chose 4.3.3 is because I heard the firmware that come after it cannot be jailbroken. Needless to say I had an insane amount of problems trying to do this (getting stuck on the cord to iTunes screen, stuck on DFU, 1611 and 3194 errors and etc..), but I was able to somehow fix most of those, at least temporarily.

I eventually set up iREB and the tiny umbrella server and was able to successfully and finally "restore" my ipod touch using the 4.3.3 firmware. However, after that was successfully finished the ipod still wouldn't turn on (I believe it was stuck on DFU since the screen was completely black although my pc and itunes would recognize it) and iTunes still told me the ipod was in recovery mode and that I needed to restore it. After that which got me absolutely nowhere I used redsn0w's 4.3.3 jailbreak software, and hit some more problems.

The first time, I tried it normally (install cydia, battery percentage), and it seemed to go well until around the 85% mark on the bar and froze at "Installing Bundles." Eventually it just turned off and went back to the black screen where iTunes still told me the ipod was in recovery mode. After that, I tried using the option "just boot tethered right now" and have been consistently able to boot the ipod without any issues. But obviously this whole time I've been wanting to update the ipod to 4.3.3 precisely because it was the latest version that had an untethered jailbreak. On the settings it says the firmware version is 4.3.3 so it appears to have updated successfully, but if I power the iPod down (holding power button and turning it off) iTunes again tells me the iPod is in recovery mode, and the only way I can get it to boot up again is by using the tethered option.

Sorry for the long read, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. I've tried to do everything myself so far, but I've really hit a block now so I need some help PLEASE!

EDIT: Tried downloading Jailbreakme from cydia in the untethered redsn0w bootup, but same problem occurred; if it powers down iTunes says its in recovery and the iPod is stuck on a black screen. Hoping for some miracle here.

EDIT2: Finally got it fixed somehow. Not sure what was the issue or even how I got things back to normal. Kept restoring the iPod on iTunes with the TU TSS server + iREB setup, as well as a couple other random things. Ultimately, I was able to escape the constant DFU state the iPod would revert back to, and things are normal so far. Also proceeded to jailbreak using redsn0w, and there were no problems there either.
