I wanted to transfer my partners files from her MacBook to my MacBook using Migration assistant.
Both machines run Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I am administrator on both and she is a user on both.
I connected the two machines by Firewire and selected her user to transfer. Part way through the procedure, I got a message saying I could not have two users on the same account with the same name. I aborted the procedure so I could delete her user account on my target machine.
But now I can no longer open the account pane in system preferences on my machine. Every time I try, it crashes.
I have:
repaired disk permissions
trashed the com.apple.systempreferences.plist and restarted my machine
copied the com.apple.systempreferences.plist from her machine (where I can open the accounts pane) and restarted
tried opening the accounts preference pane directly from System/Library/Preference Panes using System Preferences.
Nothing seems to work, can you help?
