Can the 27" Apple Cinema Display w/Mini DisplayPort be connected to 12" MacBook?

I know Google makes a USB Type-C to DisplayPort Cable but is there an adapter to go from DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort?

Anyone actually done this and confirmed it working?

It is possible and has been done. The easiest way will be with one of the Hubs that are on kickstarter. The next best solution would be if someone makes a USB-C to Female MDP adapter. Since neither of these solutions are available the only solution today that I know of is with 3 Cable/Adpater

Hoping for a new Thunderbolt Display at wwdc with UsB-C connectivity too...

Dunno, doesn't seem like Apple is too interested in updating the display... They're losing a lot of sales from people like me who have a iMac 27" and use the Thunderbolt display as a second screen. I've been waiting 4 years to update my iMac 27" to a iMac 5k because I'm not about to have a main screen that's 5k and a secondary low-res TB Display. Doesn't make sense.

Now that USB-C supports the ability to carry video signal, it would seem like it natural for Apple to come out with a new USB-C display alongside a iMac refresh that includes USB-C ports.

I guess time will tell. I don't feel like WWDC will be the launch, I'm thinking more likely back to school time.
