can the airpods replace hearing aids

Depends on what kind of hearing aids you need. Not all hearing aids are equal. If you need low powered ones...probably; if you need stronger powered ones...probably not.

Also, I don't think they're meant to be full-time hearing aids, especially given the AirPods' battery life of 5-6 hours. They're more for certain situations when you need a boost. Real hearing aids can last up to two-weeks on a single battery.
