A very curious thing happened recently. I did a clean install on my iPod as if I were preparing it for sale. Then I downloaded all the apps I had already purchased again, rather than restoring from my back up. One of those apps was the Merriam-Webster dictionary. There is no data that is held in my iCloud account connected to this app, I have other apps that do have data associated with them in my iCloud account but not the dictionary.

However upon opening the dictionary, it was already populated with all my previous favourited words! How is this possible. Did my iPod send data that is in the dictionary app to some special part of the App Store that holds my purchased apps, without my knowledge or consent?
