I've got an old 3G that I keep as a backup, and the thought came to me of using the unit as a car reverse view unit: the camera would be extracted, a cable extender fitted from the camera at the back of the car to the phone on the dash, and I could get a better field of view than through my mirrors (I have a minivan, so anything lower than 4ft behind me is invisible).

I found a source for a replacement connector that the camera could plug into (http://www.gultek.eu/iphone-spare-parts/3g/camera-flex-connector.html), but I'd still need the specs for the flat cable itself and the pinouts.

Yeah, I KNOW it's whacko, but...
