Do you guys think the lowest macbook pro (2.4ghz/256mb vram/2GBupgradable) right now will be able to last 4 years?

I've been the happy owner of a Powerbook G4 during 4 years at university and I'm still using it now.

It's beginning to feel slow:
WoW, some java apps, Photoshop, video conversion, but it is still pretty fast with others applications.

So I think that you should be able to live with it during all that time.

Even the low end it's a very nice dual core Laptop.

If you can wait I suggest you wait some time and see what happens with Montevina. Otherwise just buy it now.

Good luck!

Andrea

it sure can, I took my dell from 2003 with me to school and it worked fine, I used to term papers and just to check email, just to keep it in use, but it wasn't my main computer.

the real question is, will it still suffice your needs in 4 years?

Should be fine.

Get AppleCare and start saving for more RAM when it starts to feel a bit sluggish.

Oh, and a good bag.
