I am going to replace my Macbook Pro Unibody's LCD screen (LCD only, glass is still good) because it has developed splotches

I've found that most tutorials show the application of new double-sided tape for re-attaching the display's glass (once the LCD replacement is complete).

The original 3M adhesive should remain on the underside of the glass after correct removal though, right?

Couldn't I just use a heat gun to soften the original 3M adhesive on the glass and that should be enough without having to apply new double sided tape to the display body?

Thanks

Well, you need to use a heat gun anyway. Whether or not the adhesive can be reused just depends on its state after you get the glass off.

I wouldn't reuse the tape personally mate it's not worth it

thanks for the replies

What brand of tape would you recommend using as a replacement -- just regular old scotch double sided??

And would I need to scrape off the old tape?
