Hey there, my mother in laws imac is starting to have (what I suspect) are gpu problems. In photoshop and firefox there will be black bars that will be in the program at various times and she needs to adjust the window to get it to correct. If this IS a graphics card problem, is it user replaceable? I'm not looking to put in some fancy upgrade, just wana know if this computer is on it's last legs. Thanks guys!

There a few threads about the GPU issue for the 2011 iMac. Some have replaced the GPU and others have tried reflowing the solder by baking the GPU in an oven. I guess you have to decide how much effort you are willing to spend on the computer at this point. You also have to take care in opening up and making modifications to the iMac.

Baking the gpu... in an oven? Really?

I did some searching for it but couldn't find anything definitive on here. Now that this post exists I see some "similar threads" below, I'll check them out then!
