iPad Can the ipad air run video streaming apps ok?

I'm refering to hbo go,netflix, but I wish someone using the optimum app which is the one I'm aiming to use primarily can give input. Problem I'm seeing is that most of these streaming apps have poor reviews according to the app store. And they tend to blame ios 7 update so this surprises and worries me at the same time. The reviews are horrible like 2 stars, this cant be true can it?
