iPod Can the ipod classic and the ipod touch have custom background wallpapers?

iPod touch can have a wallpaper, iPod classic cannot.

Would the background be the image behind the lock screen only? Or is it under the icons on the home screen too? Every single iphone I have seen have the black background behind the icons..
