I have not owned an iPhone since the 3G, and didn't jailbreak back then. Now with Android the last few years I am big into rooting and installing custom ROM's, I am wondering if they are somewhat similar ?

Meaning, now that the first iOS5 release is out for developers, can a custom ROM type of thing be made to use the new and most useful features found in iOS5, and incorporate that into a jailbreak to be installed on the iPhone4 ? Or does it not work like that for iPhone's ?

It doesn't work like that for iPhones but the majority of the ooh ahh features except for some of the iCloud stuff are already available on jailbroken phones like the lock screen and notifications.

Or more like, Apple 'borrows' those JB features and put it in iOS5
