I know that macOS 12 can do variable refresh rates at high refreshes at 1440p. I have a Gigabyte M32Q, which is a 1440p 165 Hz display and my Mac mini handles it perfectly. What I want to do is upgrade both the Mac and the display.
I already have my Mac Studio base model (M1 Max) on order from Best Buy and got a shipping notification today, so that part is handled.
I am thinking of pairing it with a high-refresh 4K display (because I love the smoothness, not really for any other reason) like the Gigabyte M32U, which is just a 4K version of my existing 1440p monitor. The Studio can definitely handle 4K at 60 Hz, and I know it can handle the high refresh rate of my current monitor, but so far there's no confirmation Out There that it can handle both at the same time.
