I'm thinking of getting a Dell U3415W to use it with a MacBook.

MacBook's tech specs say that up to 3840 x 2160 is supported on an external display (that's ~60% more than the 3440 x 1440 resolution of U3415W), but on the other hand the product info for the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter says that the 3840 x 2160 resolution is only supported at 30 Hz.

So, given that the U3415W has less resolution than that, will the MacBook be able to drive it at 60 Hz, through the HDMI port in the multiport adapter (the display supports HDMI 2.0) or any other type of connection?

Also, in case it may be relevant, I don't plan to use the built-in display while connected to the external display, but I don't want to use it in closed-clamshell eitheir, because I want to use the MacBook keyboard and trackpad when connected to the external display. I'll try to switch off MacBook's built-in display using "hot corners" .

Thanks in advance,

Xavi
