iPod touch Can the Music on TOUCH be turned off?

When I play music clips on my touch, I can pause the clip, is there any way to actually turn it off?

When I play a sound clip (mp3, etc), shows the screen like it does, but if i want to stop the music "program" entirely, seems like I can't, I can pause it of course.

Wondered if it is draining the battery by leaving it on "PAUSE"???

if it's paused it won't be draining the battery, there's no way to turn it off.
