Can the new MacBook Pro's handle 16 gb of ram ?

I just read a post on MacRumors that you can buy 16gb ram for MacBook Pro:

So when apple says: "two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB"* Does that mean that both slots support 8GB ? or that they combined support 8GB ?

Exactly unless your doing some pro stuff I doubt you will ever need the 16gb.

Save the money and just get the 8gb.
