I noticed that the new Macbook Pro 13 inch config has only the 8th generation on the i7 models and the slightly lower end versions has the 7th generation i5 7th generation. Also can one change the memory oneself or it is soldered in? Is the i7 just as good and if so why is the price still that high?

Here’s how it works, there is a cheaper model without the touch bar and a more expensive model with the touch bar. The model without it hasn’t been updated with the 8th gen quad core CPUs, the new keyboard or True Tone.

Both have i5 and an option to replace it with an i7.

Both have soldered RAM and can’t be upgraded later, buy what you need and what you will need in a few years.

It’s soldered in since 2012 in all models
