can the numberpad-less keyboards use mousekeys?

I'm using the new keyboard that does not have the number pad on the right hand side. Can I use mousekeys with some part besides the number pad or am i associating with a keyboard that can't use mousekeys? I apologize for the redundancy of the word "mousekeys", I can't think of a viable alternative and a thesaurus was not redly available.
