Can the Play Pause Button Always Control Apple Music?

There are so many things Apple does that I hate, but at the top of the list (or near it) is that the play pause button no longer automatically controls Apple Music (or previously iTunes). If I start using Apple Music and then work on my laptop, the play pause button controls Apple Music. But, if I do ANYTHING on my laptop that involves playing something (like a youtube video), then the play pause button no longer controls Apple Music. An appalling mess from Apple and one that truly degrades the experience.

Is there anyway I can control this so my play pause button always works with Apple Music. It used to work this way, but Apple, in their unimaginably hubris, took that away from us.

Play/Pause works on the current (or most recent) media stream. That is how it should work.
