Can the SIM card damage the Iphone?

This is probably a silly question...

My SIM card is "damaged" at the edges, but not on the chip.
This has happened because I always had to take out the SIM card with a pen with my old phone, so it has been scratched, etc.
Can the SIM card in any way harm the iPhone?
