I'm currently looking for a way remotely access my work laptop from my mac and have multiple monitors active on the Mac side to correlate to multiple monitors on the PC. The catch is that I don't have any monitors plugged into the PC (just the standard built in LCD). Is any of this possible?

I guess my questions are:

  • Do any remote access applications (RDC, Remote Desktop for Mac) allow multiple monitor support? (i.e., two monitors on PC map to two monitors on Mac - not just a split window showing both).
  • Are there any Windows programs that would enable virtual monitors on the PC and map them to physical monitors on the Mac side?
  • Can VM software run multiple monitors for the VM?

The end goal is to be able to have more than one monitor while working my day job on the Windows machine from my mac. I could convert to a VM if anyone can confirm if the VM can run multiple monitors out, though it's be really cool if there was a program for Windows that would just enable some phantom monitors that pass back through RDC to two (or maybe three) Apple Displays.

Thanks in advance for any info. Searching hasn't yielded much for results, but I'll be honest - I have no frickin clue to research something crazy like this. Ha!
