Can this mac take osx and how high?

I have a friend who's old school first gen imac needs an upgrade.
I added 384 megs of ram and a 80gig hdd.
its a 350 mhz PPC cpu.

can it take mac os x and how high?
I have read that it can go as high as 10.3 but that seems a little high.

oh, and any videos or tutorials you know of to take the little guy apart?

10.3 will work. Max out the RAM.

would like to but that ram is vintage now and people are asking ridiculous amounts for the 512 sticks.

384 is the best i could get together.
