Can Time Capsule be used as external hard drive?

I guess what I'm asking is if it can be plugged in directly to the computer? Sometimes it can be really slow accessing files from a hard drive over a network. Anyone know? Sorry if this has been covered already.

It can probably be connected to another computer through ethernet and files can be transfered that way. It's mostly made to be wireless though. I bet it has a pretty fast transfer rate.
