was planning on getting two external hardrives one as main storage (planning on moving all files from internal hardrive as it almost full) and the second one from time machine

i wanted to ask would it be possible to partition the second drive so it backs up via time machine from the external hardrive and also from the mac internal hardrive so my mac programs and system files are also backed up

Regards

Rema

Thanks a lot for the replies, i will be ordering the drives this week,

is it pretty straight forward to set it up to do so?

Yes it is, remember if you're deleting files, try not deleting it from all documents, cuze it will show double of the files, and can get confusing.

kinda need more details, what happens when you just set up drive 1 as the one to backup and drive 2 as the destination?

i have a 1tb WD hard i made that time machine back up, i also have a 500gb WD drive which i have moved most of my files from my mac onto but time machine is not backing that up, just the mac internal drive
