I was told a time machine would auto back up my imac but my question is can I manually back up items from my pc? Could I access all files from the time machine anywhere (outside the home) by going on the internet? And finally could I view files from my imac useing my pc and visa versa? thank you for any help you can give

You should be able to directly access your Time Machine drive from a PC as if you were connecting to another Windows PC.
Just one thing: Apple doesn't recommend saving files into the Time Machine volume, to prevent data corruption. What you can do is attach an external USB Hard Drive and be able to access it from any computer (Mac or PC).
