My Time Capsule's power supply board failed and Apple supplied me with a replacement TC. They also gave me the hard disc that they had extracted from the old time capsule, which is intact and still has the original sparse bundles for our iMac's and our MacBook Pro's backups.

Can I copy these original sparse bundles across and continue backing up to them with Time Machine? The AppleCare guy thought I'd have to start again with backing up from scratch with new sparse bundles, but he didn't seem completely sure.

I would give it a try. In theory it ought to work, but I don't know if Time Machine keeps track of Time Capsules individually independent of the backup volumes.
