Hi everybody,

I know that this topic has been discussed before, but can't find an answer to my specific question. So I'm on a family plan and my line isn't eligible but someone else's is. Gonna buy on their line and do the usual sim swapping. I know you have to call AT&T to transfer data plans/imei (?) numbers and everything. Just wondering – can I do this all in the apple store without having to call AT&T/going to an AT&T store? I know sim card swapping you can do on your own, but not sure if apple can transfer the data plan and everything else.

Thanks.

Do what I did. Just buy the phone as the family members upgrade and then have them go ahead and set it up for your personal number as if it was actually YOUR upgrade, no sim swapping involved. I had to get my dad to put me down as someone who has permissions on the plan though.

And this works in an apple store? If so, that's awesome!

Thanks!
