Rookie questions:

Is there a way to use your iMac drive to load programs over to your MacBook air?? Also, can you remotely ( from MacBook air ) transfer files from your iMac???
 
The following should do the trick for the second part (and maybe even the first part) of your sentence:

If you want to run applications stored on the iMac from your MBA and on your MBA, the wireless connection will limit your transfer rates to load the application from the iMac's HDD to the MBA's RAM, if that is what you mean with the first part.
