Can use MBP as ext drive for iMac?

Hi,
new user. Just ordered full spec late 2012 27 iMac. I was wondering of the possibility of using my MBP as external drive. Doable? It would be perfect to connect via usb or wifi and exploit the hardware I already have without buying other "accessories". Thanks for help.
