Can virus infect if DMG opened by Stuffit Expander?

Hi,

Can you get a virus/trojan if you drag a DMG file into Stuffit Expander to open it? I am not double clicking on the DMG file to open it?

Can certain DMG or ZIP files that are opened by double-clicking on them subject your Mavericks OSX to any virus/trojan/key-logger?

There are times I have to open DMG files containing documents and I am concerned that the DMG file can run executable code. Perhaps I have been a PC user too long where clicking on any file(mp3, pdf, zip) can be cause for concern.

I'm not a SI guy so can't tell too much but generally, IMO, they cannot just run executable code.
