Will Core Animation take advantage of hardware acceleration better than Quartz? For example, something like the PB in my sig...

The Core Animation demo at WWDC blew my mind. All those videos playing and Steve searching through them...

Doesn't Core Animation use the Quartz layer? Last I heard, Core Animation was basically Quartz Composer technology...implying it is Quartz. I could be wrong about that though.

Well, from what I understand, Core Animation uses Quartz 2D, but also QuickDraw, Core OpenGL, and Core Image, Core Video, Quicktime, etc.

I'm just curious abut what kind of enhancements if any that Leopard will provide as far as animation rendering. I wonder if it will be more GPU dependent or more relying on multi-core processors (giving core 3 Core Animation priority).
