...and while we're at it, in the status bar too. For those of us who travel across many time zones on long flights, sometimes it's helpful to know quickly whether it's AM or PM. Minimalism gone too far to exclude this small piece of helpful info

Can we get at least an option to show 'a(m)' or 'p(m)' after the time on the lockscreen?

All you have to do is select military time in the settings app.
No chance, it took them 5 years just to add battery percentage back for the same reason (no space next to the notch). You'll have to use the 24-hour clock if you want that functionality.
Though with the capabilities of iOS 16, perhaps someone will make a lockscreen clock widget.
