We have Apple TVs, Apple Watches, iPads, iPhones, and Macs. The numbering schemes for TVOS, WatchOS, iPadOS, iOS, MacOS plus their respective hardware is a mess. Can we convince Apple to just number devices and software with two digits for the year it was introduced?

Think of: "I have an MacBook Pro 20 running MacOS 24", or: "I have an Apple Watch 21 running WatchOS 23", etc.... This business of having different generational numbers for each device and for each OS is driving me nuts. I can't keep them straight in my head. It would be so much easier to readily identify using a 5 year old device that is trunning the current OS (or not). I really don't care if I have a 9th generation device or 14th generation OS.

At least for the Macs, they have year numbers, e.g. my "Mid 2020" iMac.

The thing that drives me bonkers is people saying they just installed Monterey over the top of their Ventura, or whatever the names are. I can never remember what order the names came in, and I wish more people would use the numbers.
