Can we restore the 3G S with OS 3.0 from a 2.0 os iphone?

My current iPhone first gen has the 2.0 OS on it.

When i get my new iPhone 3G S next week can i restore the backup from my 2.0 os old phone onto the new 3.0 OS phone?

I want to transfer all my settings, media, etc, to the new phone.

Yes you can choose whatever backup you want to use. It doesn't matter what phone it is from.

So having a different OS wont make a difference?



Also, when you select the backup to restore from are the backups dated so we know which one is the most current?

Yes they all have their dates, and the name of the device. It doesn't matter that you are going to 3.0, anything in the new backup will be changed accordingly.
