Hi.

I am wondering if it is possible to exchange text messages (SMS) overseas? I know it worked when I brought my iPhone to Europe with me, but that was probably because it was on international roaming. If I want to text a friend who uses a regular (i.e. non-iPhone) cellphone in, say, Belgium, will he and I be able to send text back and forth?

Thanks!
Dai

Thanks! Now the link includes the following statement.
It’s just $0.25 to send a message from the U.S. to international numbers. Receiving a message from outside the U.S. is just $0.20, or deducted from your Messaging Package or MEdia bundle allowance.
I take it to mean the international text messages are not covered by the Messaging Package. For instance, I pay $5 a month for 200 texts per month, but it doesn't cover the international texting. Am I correct?

Yep, all correct.

I regularly text friends and family overseas, it's in addition to the messaging plan. I also use my iPhone to text people in the US and elsewhere while abroad, too; I think it usually costs something like 50 cents but doesn't incur charges for international roaming, nor for data roaming (which I keep disabled at all times to prevent huge bills).

Yeah, I figured that out, too. I used texting to communicate with my wife back in the U.S. while I was in Europe on business. Worked quite nicely. :)
