Can moderators tell who's on people's ignore list?
It would be cool if every year the one person who appears on the most members' ignore list had their account closed.

(and yes, I loved Shirley Jackson's The Lottery)

I'm not aware of any way to see who is on who's ignore list. I believe only admins can do that.

Regardless we won't ban somebody because a bunch of people ignore them. People ignore good advice all the time.

Cool? are you serious? what would be a good reason for this?

I just added you to my ignore list so I do not have to see anymore threads you start like this one :confused:

How would you feel if everyone who read your thread here, added you to their ignore list and at the end of the year the mods booted you? :confused:

I added you to my ignore list. I say we vote you off.

Some of the users in this thread could maybe be a bit nicer.

Perhaps not, as it seems to be a very bad suggestion indeed...the "ignore" command is strictly personal, and this site is not supposed to be a popularity contest anyway.

Three basic things:

1 - Just like a TV remote control, if you don't want to see a user's message, just ignore him - no harm done to anyone else;

2 - If he is openly breaking rules, he will be suspended or banned by mods;

3 - Kicking someone just because of a high number of "ignores" is not only unfair to those select few who like that user; it's also completely unnecessary.

What about my suggestion to create a subforum for PC/Windows games? Any feedback on that?

I agree. However that doesn't mean people have to be jerks. Is it really beneficial to open this thread and half the posts just say something like, "How about I ignore you so you get banned?". I don't believe it is. There are good suggestions and bad suggestions. I personally don't think this is a good one but that doesn't mean I have to regurgitate a comment that doesn't further the discussion.

Not at present nor is this the appropriate thread to bring it up in.

Something like this could potentially be abused. That is, if you were even serious about it, OP.

I don't really like the idea. Sorry, it just seems a bit unfair to me.

Then I would go quietly into the night, realizing that MR was a place of hypersensitive, mean-spirited people, who don't get dry humor.

Ignore list =/= breaking rules.

Just because the person may annoy/upset/offend a lot of people due to their opinions, doesn't mean they need banning. Everyone has different opinions. Unless they offend you, debate them. Don't just ignore them.

Surely you can think of a few users who have such repeated shrill, outlandish, or trollish posts that they more often than not derail a thread (and it seems the ignore lists would be the best indicator).

That`s why we have Moderators and "Report" buttons.
Anyhow, removing all pointless threads/posts and getting rid of members on that basis would quickly leave us with about 30 members.
(I`d be gone for a start :D)
