Hi folks,

Just wondered if you might have the answer to an issue I'm having with my iTunes playlists. Basically, I'm unable to add songs to playlists in iTunes. I have a lot of music on a NAS (network attached storage) device which shows up in my shared devices in iTunes but the tracks on there are not sorted in any way and simply show up as a very long un-ordered list. Sure, I can use the search to filter by artist and album etc, but it's far from ideal.

Is the any way around this problem? The only one that I can think of is to actually have a HDD permanently connected to one of the USB ports and act as a second local drive. I was hoping to avoid having the music on my local machine as I want that space to be reserved for digital photos which I am working on and secondly, I want my music to be available to all machines/iPads on my network not just the iMac to which the external HDD is connected.

TIA
