Can you alter a route in (Apple) Maps?

Hi,
Maybe I just haven found out yet how to, but I find it pretty annoying that after you've hit the Route button, you can only clear the whole thing and there's no way to return to the start and destination view to just change one of the two.

So, is there really no way to do it or is it just me who finds this bad usability?

Changing to one of the other starting routes wouldn't make a great deal of sense once you're underway with another route. Surely it makes more sense to re-route from your current location.
