I don't have a lot of space on my iMac and I wanted to backup my iPhone before upgrading it's iOS. I learned about the symlink trick to point the backup folder to the external hard drive. I did this and it seems to worked according to Finder. But the external HD is formatted as exFAT and I was suspicious that this would mess things up. I suspect the permissions don't match 100%. but not sure if that's a big deal.

Does anyone know if this would cause problems trying to retrieve these files in the future? I've tried to use tools like iMazing and 3uTools to browse this backup. But I don't really understand the file structure, so not sure if it worked correctly.
