I picked up an open box 16GB / 512GB config rMBP 15" from Best Buy for only $2200, open box. Very easy purchase - don't forget to check BB too as they can have some great deals on open boxes.

No, especially if they have to build it and deliver from China.

The online apple store will search your local retail store and identify any that have one in stock, however. You can buy it on line and then pick it up at the store, ands thats about as quick as you can get one.

Best Buy and most other retailers that sell apple products will do the same thing.

Go to the Store on the Apple site, select the machine/options you want, and then check the stores near you for availability. If not a BTO machine, it may be in stock.

I did this about a month ago and found a 15" rMBP w/16GB RAM, 512GB SSD (the $2799 model) in stock at the local Apple store.
